Alstroemeria

Facts About Alstroemeria

Florists love alstroemerias in the summer because of their adaptability and creative potential, when they are at their most potent. Hand-tied bouquets may not be the best option if you are allergic to this beautiful flower, since this might create unnecessary stress on your big day.

Alstroemeria, often known as Peruvian lilies or the Inca lily, is another common name for this plant. Its names are so descriptive because of their roots in the cold mountain regions of Peru, Chile, and Brazil. There are two distinct seasons for flowering: the peak of summer for Brazilian and Chilean varieties, and winter for the latter.

The plant was brought to Europe in the 18th century by Baron Clas Alströmer, a Swedish naturalist. The Alstroemeria genus was named after Alströmer by botanist Carl Linnaeus, for whom Alströmer collected plants for a botanical garden.

In Sweden, the word “alstroemeria” is attributed to botanist and aristocrat Claus von Alstromer. He was the first person to write about the finding of this particular kind of blossom in a scientific publication.
Color and pattern variations have been created for the species since its discovery.
Alstroemeria may be kept alive in a vase for up to two weeks by planting it.
According to popular belief, the Alstroemeria bloom does not smell at all.
