Anthurium

Facts About Anthurium

Anthurium species can be monocots or epiphytes, meaning they can grow on other plants. When a spathe of glossy leathery hue surrounds or spreads from a central rod-like stem bearing multiple little bisexual flowers, it is called an inflorescence or flower. The leaves have a slightly leathery texture and come in a range of shapes and sizes. Calcium oxalate crystals, which are considered toxic, are found in the plants. Anthuriums are often grown in greenhouses because of their temperature and humidity requirements.

Anthuriums are members of a large family! More than 800 distinct species are found in Mexico, northern Argentina, and Uruguay as a genus.
Flamingo Flower, Flamingo Lily, and Painted Tongue are just a few of their many nicknames.
White, yellow, pink, orange, and green are just a few of the many brilliant hues that Anthurium blossoms may be found in, although you’re more likely to find them in red.
Despite their beauty, these flowers are toxic because they contain calcium oxalate crystals.
Think about giving your loved ones their own potted anthuriums as a present. Before sending one of these greens, keep in mind that they represent hospitality, happiness, and wealth!

Anthurium in Floral Arrangements

Anthurium is a unique flower with a single huge heart-shaped petal and a lengthy pistil extending from the center of the petal. Heart-shaped petals have a waxy covering on the surface that gives them an almost reflective gloss. Anthuriums come in a wide range of colors, including red, white, pink, and green, which are the most prevalent. Smaller anthuriums are also available, with heart-shaped petals and pistils that are smaller than those of the larger variety. Because anthurium stems are long and thin, they may be utilized in arrangements that are both long and tall.

Anthuriums do not perform well in chilly environments. Even when the temperature is pleasantly above freezing, anthuriums cannot be kept in a refrigerator. The petal’s natural color will fade to brown or black if it is exposed to cold for any length of time. Always keep anthurium arrangements and bouquets out of direct sunlight and in a room with moderate temperatures.

How to Care for Anthurium

Anthuriums may be used in both bouquets and floral arrangements. Wedding bouquets, centerpieces, altar arrangements, and other wedding components may all benefit from the usage of lilies of the valley. They may live longer than most other flowers if kept in a cool, well-ventilated space with easy access to water. They also make stunning arrangements and bouquets that are sure to garner admiring glances. One-color anthuriums, which Power Flowers like to buy from suppliers when they can get them from the farmers, are available all year round. We employ anthuriums in tall flower arrangements because of their long stems, but they may also be utilized in short and medium-sized flower arrangements well.
