It is believed that Anna Jarvis, the creator of Mother’s Day brought carnations to her mother because that was her favorite flower. At the time of her mothers death, she brought over 450 carnations. That’s when carnations began being used for Mother’s Day. Also in Christianty, Christians believe that when Mary, mother of Jesus was crying during the time of the crucifixion, carnations appeared.
