Lily

Facts About Baby's Breath

Since ancient times, wild lilies have bloomed throughout North America, Europe, and Asia. People began to observe and care for these lovely blooms as civilization advanced.  Plant hunters from the Americas, Asia, and Japan returned with many odd lily species.
Pre-packaged wild lily bulbs were utilized to transport them for international commerce. Unlike orchids, lily bulbs were more likely to arrive undamaged.  The availability of lilies exploded in the 1920s. Since florists introduced these novel hybrids, their popularity has risen steadily.

In ancient mythology, lilies played an important role as well. When it comes to flowers, the Ancient Greeks believed that the lily was derived from Hera’s milk, the goddess of the gods. So the lily became an object of worship for the Ancient Greeks.

Lily in Floral Arrangements

When it comes to symbolism, the hues of lilies may play a significant part as well. For instance, a white flower in Catholic tradition is viewed as a sign of both virtue and chastity. In addition, a white lily has been used as a symbol of the Virgin Mary’s purity because of this association. The Virgin Mary is revered as the Queen of Heaven, and her white lily is a symbol of her majesty.

Many more meanings and symbolisms were connected to lilies as they grew more well recognized and appreciated throughout time. Alstroemeria, Peruvian lilies, and stargazer lilies that are white all represent devotion and friendship, respectively. Both prosperity and riches may be symbolized by the color of the Stargazer Lily. It’s also a nice idea to give Lilies of the Valley to your husband or wife on their second wedding anniversary since they symbolize loyalty and humility.
