The name Matthiola, which includes the stock flower and stock-gilliflower, is a member of the family Cruciferae. A total of 55 species are included in the genus. There are a number of different Brassicaceae plants that are popularly referred to as “stock flowers,” despite the fact that Matthiola incana is considered the “real” stock flower. 
 
 
Europe, the Mediterranean area, Central Asia, and North and South Africa are all home to stock flowers. Stock flowers come in a variety of sizes, scents, and colors. They’re frequently little, white, or pink. Hues include white, pink and purple/blue, although many newer cultivars and hybrids exhibit a wider range of colors. As the stalk grows, the blooms are placed in ascending order, blooming from the bottom to the top. Spicy and clove-like are common descriptions of the fragrance. 
 
Longevity, satisfaction, prosperity, celebration, appreciation of the present, spiritual purity, commitment, bliss, and experiencing a spiritual sense of oneness are some of the typical metaphorical connotations of the stock flower in modern times.
